Pottery

Learn hand building techniques with clay and make a range of pots and sculptures. 

This course is aimed at beginners and the more experienced ceramic artists.

During the course, you will be introduced to traditional hand building techniques such as thumb, slab and coil pot making. You will experiment with surface mark making, decoration techniques as well as glazing.

Step by step guidance will be given with a range of taught seasonally themed projects or create your own masterpieces. By the end of the course you should have a few pieces ready to take home.

 

Course Location:

This course will be held at the North Road campus, in Poole- BH14 0LS. Starting Wednesday 17th April to Wednesday 26th June 2024. No class on Wednesday 29th May.

Course Aims

  • Learn traditional hand building techniques and gain the confidence to design and make your own projects.
  • Learn a range decoration techniques such as surface pattern, slip and glazing.
  • Take part in a creative activity that can have a positive impact on your mindset, health and wellbeing.

Course Outcomes & Assessment

  • Approx. 4 or 5 completed pottery projects.

Entry Requirements

  • 16 yrs+
  • The course is aimed beginners or the more experienced.

What you need to bring

  • Apron/messy clothes.
  • Sketchbook and drawing materials.
